Through constant innovation and improvements and an unswerving dedication to service and customer satisfaction The Reefs is now widely recognized as the best hotel in Bermuda. In addition to being the majority owner of The Reefs, Mr. Dodwell has also served as a member of the Bermuda Parliament and spent several years as the island’s Minster of Tourism. For over 20 years David wanted to acquire the beautiful piece of undeveloped land right next door to The Reefs which also overlooked the hotel’s private beach. Finally, six years ago the opportunity to buy the land arose. It had always been his vision to develop a limited number of affordable luxury private residences which would be a natural extension of the hotel. The decision was therefore made to develop a Private Residence Club so the cost of ownership would be lower and more in line with anticipated usage if the home owner. After years of planning, construction of The Reefs Club's spacious two- and three-bedroom oceanfront villas, began in November 2007. The Club is located immediately adjacent to the hotel (on the left side of the photo above) and will be ready for occupancy in May 2009. Just like the hotel, The Club faces the ocean offering spectacular ever-changing views of the beach, water and South Shore sunsets. The Reefs Club has only 19 fractionally priced villas offering owners a Bermuda vacation home at a price significantly less than that of a traditional home. It all began 35 years ago when David Dodwell fell in love with The Reefs. A graduate of Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration, David served in various positions at the hotel eventually rising to the position of President.
